Eve Chan, Founding Partner

Eve advises clients on corporate finance transactions, including public and private mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, takeovers, initial public offerings, H share listings. She has advised on multiple high-profile public takeovers and global offerings in Hong Kong.

Eve has been advising various listed companies, including A+H dual listed companies and SOEs, on Hong Kong Listing Rules, general compliance matters, and investigations by the regulatory bodies.

Eve has more than 17 years of experience advising clients in a broad spectrum of industry sectors, including healthcare, real estate, aviation, media, retail, mining and financial services. Prior to joining us, she was trained and working at leading international law firms throughout her legal career.

 

 

Christine Chow, Partner

Christine is experienced in corporate finance, corporate and general commercial law.  She advises clients in mergers and acquisitions, including takeovers of listed companies and cross border transactions. Christine has also been advising clients in corporate finance transactions, including company reorganization, capital raising, loan transactions, disclosure requirements, corporate governance and compliance, as well as on securities regulatory matters.

Christine is a solicitor in both the jurisdictions of Hong Kong, and England and Wales (currently non-practising in England and Wales).  She is also a China Appointed Attesting Officer.

 Christine speaks mother-tongue Mandarin and Cantonese, and fluent English.

Sr. Humphrey Cheung, Consultant

Sr. Humphrey Cheung is a consultant at YC Solicitors and he is also a founding partner of Humphrey & Associates with full competence to handle various areas of practice extensively for different kinds of corporate clients as well as individual clients.

Sr. Humphrey Cheung has been highly regarded by his own clients especially in the industry in relation to land and development as well as construction and engineering matters. In or about April 2014, he was awarded with the fellowship status by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in recognition of his highest standard of success, achievement and expertise worldwide.

Prior to the setting up of Humphrey & Associates, he was first trained as a Quantity Surveyor in Messrs. Rider Levett Bucknall (formerly known as Messrs. Levett and Bailey) where full aspects of QS practices were well trained on various types of projects including substructure and superstructure works in relation to residential, commercial, industrial, museum, roadworks, drainage works and infrastructure works for clients including private developers, MTRC, Urban Council, Architectural Services Department, Housing Department, Highways Department and Drainage Services Department.

He further equipped himself in the building and construction industry by joining Messrs. Gammon Construction Limited where both site works and project management practice in the contractor’s prospective were well acquired. Besides, he also provided for assistance at its Legal Department for litigation cases in relation to its construction projects.

Throughout the above experience, he has the extensive knowledge and experience in the field of building and construction worldwide including Hong Kong, Macau, China, Korea and Philippines.

He then since 2002 joined the legal profession in Hong Kong and later became a Partner of a sizable law firm in Hong Kong in association with a Swiss law firm, where he was in charge of both Litigation and Arbitration Department and the Building and Construction Department apart from handling other areas of practice.

Before establishing Humphrey & Associates, he did serve as the Head of Group Legal Counsel for a listed property developer (including its associated construction companies) in Hong Kong whose development projects cover Hong Kong and Southern part of China responsible for re-structure and re-organization, land acquisitions, compulsory sale for redevelopment, land and development, construction and engineering, land valuation, sale transactions, tenancy arrangement, disputes resolution for construction as well as tenancy, town planning issues, corporate and commercial matters, listing and compliances, etc.

Apart from being admitted as the solicitor in Hong Kong and England & Wales, he was also admitted as the solicitor in the British Virgin Islands and has thus gained the experience in handling those contentious and non-contentious matters in relation to the BVI.

In respect of his dispute resolution practice, he has been appointed as the Solicitor and/or Advocate in various domestic and international arbitrations in Hong Kong, Macau, China, England, Singapore and Thailand.

 

Willa Chan, Consultant

Willa Chan is a Hong Kong qualified funds lawyer and is a consultant of YC Solicitors and the founding principal of Willa Legal, a law firm offering private investment funds related legal services to fund sponsors, asset managers, family offices, high net worth individuals and fund investors. Willa advises and represents Chinese, Hong Kong and international fund managers, financial institutions and family offices establish, structure and restructure funds, discretionary accounts and other collective investment schemes. She also advises, structures and documents seed investments, revenue sharing and upstream shareholding arrangements, and represents fund investors in respect of their investments in various fund products. Prior to founding Willa Legal, Willa had worked in top tier funds practice in a US white shoe firm and a PRC red circle firm. 

 

Willa is also a chartered secretary and chartered governance professional and is actively involved in government consultancy projects regarding the development of fund-related laws, regulations and policies and is a frequent speaker in corporate trainings and seminars hosted by various financial institutions, industry associations and universities.

 

Janice Wong, Consultant

Janice a Hong Kong qualified solicitor specialising in corporate finance and general commercial law. Janice is experienced in advising clients on corporate finance transactions, including private and public mergers and acquisitions, takeovers, equity and debt capital raising, pre-IPO investments and IPOs. Janice also advises on Hong Kong Listing Rules compliance and general commercial matters. Clients that Janice has advised range from listed companies and multinational companies to startups and small-to-medium enterprises. Prior to joining us, Janie has worked at a leading international law firm for over 11 years.

Janice is also a civil celebrant of marriages and has a wealth of experience in officiating marriage ceremonies as well as handling overseas marriage applications and marriages involving multi-jurisdictional issues. Janice is fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
